Welcome to the 'Learning with Neurofeedback' clinic...

Philosophy

We aim to provide a professional, caring service for our clients and their families. In addressing problems and difficulties, we never lose sight of the person. We employ a positive behavioural approach.  Never judging or reproaching. We support our clients and their families, respecting their efforts to seek wellness and happiness.

Location

The clinic is based in London. However, due to our affiliation with the York Biofeedback Centre we are also delighted to be able to offer neurofeedback training in York.

The London practice is less than 10 minutes walk from Wandsworth Common BR, with a fast and frequent rail service direct to London Victoria, (calling at Clapham Junction). Parking is free.

A peaceful atmosphere provides a calm oasis from the daily demands of raising children with learning and behavioural difficulties.  Parents have often remarked that coming to the clinic provides them with time out to unwind while their child is engaged in neurofeedback.

Appointment Times

In school term time, intake assessments take place on Saturday mornings, before noon.  These appointments last about an hour and a half, during which time questionnaires are completed and testing is carried out.  A schedule of appointments is then agreed.

Neurofeedback appointments of 45 minutes duration take place after school at 4.15, 5.15 or 6.15, Monday-Friday. These are usually scheduled at a rate of two per week. Each session comprises 30-minutes of neurofeedback.

People

The clinic is run by Melissa Foks. Melissa trained in neurofeedback (eeg spectrum) at Groningen University hospital, The Netherlands.  She is a qualified teacher and holds a masters degree in the psychology of education. She is a member of the British Psychological Society, the International Society for Neurofeedback & Research and the Society for Applied Neuroscience.

The clinic has been in operation since 2001, during which time successful outcomes have been achieved with a range of learning and behavioural difficulties in children aged primarily between 7 and 17.

Cost of treatment

Each neurofeedback session costs £40.  Initial assessment and brain mapping are charged according to complexity (starting at £150). Depending on the number of sessions required the total cost tends to be between £1,200 - £2,000.  This includes assessment, brain-mapping, monitoring and management of the case. Once normalisation is achieved, further treatment is not usually required. It's certainly a major commitment, but comments like this e-mail from one relieved parent are typical

'We can't thank you enough for all the assistence you've provided 'S'.  I think it's probably the best money we've ever spent and all the time and effort has been totally worth it'
